"I came to live with my husband in Northchurch, Berkhamsted, two years ago from a small town in North Wales to be near my two sons, one of whom is married to a local girl. They live here with their two daughters who go to St Mary's church school. I have since joined the choir in St Mary's church and have become the verger and I am a member of the PCC.
My husband and I ran a design and printing business, employing 16 people. Due to increasing ill health, my husband had to retire and I then ran a successful bed and breakfast business for four years.
We decided to move to Berkhamsted as we had been coming here for many years and loved it so now I feel I can give my time to the further wellbeing of the town. As with many rapidly expanding towns we must ensure we get the best from our local authorities and I consider this to be a key aspect of the role of a town councillor. In holding this public but voluntary office, we should also be able to check on any decisions which are made which affect all the local people here. Because of my husband's problems I have been dealing with health and social services so can use that experience to help others.
I was a town councillor for over ten years and was the mayor of Ruthin Denbighshire so I am familiar with the workings of a town council
My interests are ancestry and the history and heritage of an area I think it's important to maintain any local history for future generations; it's what stops our town just becoming just another commuter town from London.
I feel my previous experience prior to coming to Berkhamsted will give a new dimension to any activities on the town council".
